My sister was diagnosed with an ependymoma brain tumor at the age of 5. The tumor (about the size of a softball) was removed by Dr. Ben Carson. After the removal she underwent radiation therapy. While recieving therapy she was able to being school and participate as a normal student. Today, she is a happy and healthy 17 year old. She has suffered no learning disorders as is common with radiation therapy in that area of the brain. The only negative experience she has had is the therapy killed most of the hair follicals in that area of her head. For a teenager missing hair has caused her some self-esteem issues but the people at "Hair Club for Kids" have provided her with a hair piece.
