I have a family history of Thyroid Cancer. My aunt had thyroid cancer years ago and ended up having part of her Thyroid removed. Last year I started getting pain in my neck (literally) and went to the doctor. They immediately sent me for an Ultrasound which confirmed growths on my thyroid. I then went to the hospital for a radioactive dye uptake test.
The test was a 2 day process, however it was painless and helped my doctor to provide me with a definitive diagnosis. I am only 31 so the thought of having cancer was very unsettling. I remember wanting to deny the whole situation and not get the testing done. I am so thankful I followed through, especially since the procedure turned out to be so easy and painless. My nodules were noncancerous, however its something I have to watch for the rest of my life. It's better to know than not. Dont be afraid!
